Am I Crazy, or is it just Chemical ?
It's really hard for people today with emotional problems. There is so much you can read or research about emotional illness. But with all these outlets doctors still over medicate to cover symptoms. Watching the people close to me go through the cocktails of meds the doctors prescribe can make me feel dizzy. They take these meds and are the living dead walkin around. I am torn between the too sides: one side is taking care of the core reasons you're afflicted( through therapy, biofeedback etc), and the other side is by med control. Most the time it can be both. The debate is whether or not emotional problems like depression, anxiety and bi polar is purely a chemical imbalance in the brain that only medication can fix or is it caused by environmental conditioning?

If you have mental problems I don' t think it should be defined by the word, "crazy". You or anyone suffering from this needs to focus on understanding, "why" you are suffering and then take actions to remedy it. I believe people should be open to taking medication if necessary and also use prayer, therapy, bio feedback, hypnosis, exercise, etc. This is a life long process. Best Wishes!

I agree grape goddess with all of that, but do you think biofeedback and a healthy life style can help you not take medications? Or that people are just born with chemical imbalances and need a replacement "chemical" to help them function ?
ReplyDeleteI think you can overcome anything through the power of prayer and mind without medication. For someone trying to unlock the secrets of their mind, use meds! ;) Seriously, you have to try everything until you find what works for you chemical imbalance or not.
